Tender Notice: | Consultants were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the Design of the Upgrade to National Route N1, Sections 17 and 18 from Westleigh (N1/17 km 77.8) to Heuningspruit (N1/17 km 101.6) and from Heuningspruit (N1/18 km0.0) to Koppies (N1/18 km 29.2). The project falls within the province of Free State and in the district municipality of Fezile Dabi. The project entails the upgrading of the existing single carriageway freeway to a dual carriageway freeway. The limits of the investigations are from Westleigh (N1/17 km 77.8), on the southern end and at Koppies (N1/18 km 29.2) Twickenham Road (N3/3 km 7.7), on the northern end, a distance of approximately 53 km per direction. The scope of this tender is to obtain Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data measurements along the existing pavements in order to evaluate the pavement performance. Firms with experience in carrying out FWD testing are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake the site measurements. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site due to the high volumes of traffic along the route. Tender documents will be emailed to interested tenderers who shall request documents from the undersigned. Documents will be issued in electronic format and tenderers must have access to MS Office 2007 and Acrobat Adobe 9.0, or similar compatible software. Documents will be available from Thursday, 19th January 2017 during the hours 08:00 to 16:00 (Monday to Friday). The closing time and date for submission of tender is 14h00 on Friday, 3rd February 2017. No email submission will be accepted. The tender closes at the SANRAL’s Eastern Regional office at 58 Van Eck Place, Mkondeni, Pietermaritzburg, 3201. Location of tender box: Registry office.
