Tender Notice: | INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT SERVICES FOR CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE SPECIAL MAINTENANCE ON NATIONAL ROUTE R390 SECTION 1 FROM CRADOCK (km 0.00) TO HOFMEYR (km 62.50) NVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT CLOSING DATE (AT 14:00): 21 FEBRUARY 2020 SNA Civil and Structural Engineers (Pty) Ltd were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the consulting engineering services for CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE SPECIAL MAINTENANCE ON NATIONAL ROUTE R390 SECTION 1 FROM CRADOCK (km 0.00) TO HOFMEYR (km 62.50). The project falls within the Chris Hani District Municipality in the province of the Eastern Cape. The existing road is a single carriageway, mostly narrow, with an average width of 6.8m. There is also a section of the road seems to have been treated with a texture slurry recently. Sections of the road also exhibit longitudinal cracking and severe indication of failure of the underlying layers. Approximately fifty percent (50%) of the road received “texture†slurry whilst the remaining half shows no signs of any recent pavement rejuvenation work. It is envisaged that special maintenance of the current pavement structure will probably take the form of localised base repair and pre-treatment of the existing surface combined width full-scale reconstruction by in-situ base stabilisation (cement) followed by the construction of 150 mm crushed stone base, essentially raising the road level 150 mm above the existing road level in those areas. The entire road will receive the construction of an appropriate wearing course (seal and asphalt overlay). The selection of the appropriate pavement strategy depends on the approval by SANRAL following the consideration of the road safety audit. In line with SANRAL’s prerogative for the project, the entire length of the road including intersections and ancillary works along the route should be investigated for safety. A Road Safety Audit is therefore required to investigate the geometric and ancillary works including fencing, road signs, guardrails, rest areas and road markings which will result in improved safety of the travelling public. Only Consulting Engineering Firms with a B-BBEE contributor status level of 1 or 2 are eligible to submit quotations. Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quotation to undertake an independent Road Safety Audit. A compulsory clarification meeting will NOT be held QUOTATION DOCUMENTS Quotation documents are available at no cost in electronic format on CD. Tenderers must have access to Microsoft Office 2013 and Acrobat Adobe 9.0 or similar compatible software. The physical address for collection of Quotation documents is: The Regional Manager (Southern Region) The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd 20 SHOREWARD DRIVE BAY WEST, PORT ELIZABETH, 6025, SOUTH AFRICA Tel: (041) 398 3200 Fax: (041) 492 0201, where documents may be collected from FRIDAY 28 JANUARY 2020 during the hours 09:00 to 16:00 (Monday to Friday). |
