Overview
The South Bore of the Huguenot Tunnel has been operational for more than 31 years, since March 1988. In the intervening years, more than 110 million vehicles have passed through the tunnel to date.
The electrical and mechanical systems in the tunnel were designed to international standards over 35 years ago. The tunnel is due for major refurbishment to bring it in line with current international standards.
