KBK Engineers (Pty) Ltd invites tenders on behalf of the Applicant, the South African National Roads Agency SOC limited, for the Subservice of managing the environmental process and monitoring environmental compliance during construction for the Mkhondo Ring Road on National Route N2 Sections 33 & 34. This project is in the province of Mpumalanga and in the district municipality of Gert Sibande. The approximate programme for design is to be completed by September 2028, followed by construction monitoring of 39 months (42-month construction period plus 3-month contractor mobilisation period), commencing April 2029.

Only tenderers who meet the minimum requirements for Key Person/s and who are registered on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database are eligible to tender.

TENDER DOCUMENTS

Tender documents are available at no cost in electronic format from the SANRAL website using the following link https://www.nra.co.za/service-provider-zone/tenders/open-tenders/.  Tenderers must have access to Microsoft © Office 2013 and Acrobat Adobe © 9.0 or similar compatible software.

Tenderers must submit, via email, the duly completed Form A1.1 Certificate of Intention to Submit a Tender by no later than close of business (16:00) on Tuesday 20 October 2026 (tender advertisement date: 16 October 2026) .Failure to submit this certificate would result in the tenderer not receiving addenda or additional issued information and may result in the tenderer being non-responsive.

TENDERER’S MEETING

A compulsory tenderers’ clarification meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 10:00. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the status of the project and the scope of the Subservices. Prospective tenderers must register for the meeting by e-mailing the completed Form A1.1: Certificate of Intention to Submit a Tender, together with the name(s), e-mail address(es) and telephone number(s) of the representative(s) who will attend, to nelaniedv@kbkengineers.co.za by no later than close of business (16:00) on Tuesday 20 October 2026. The Microsoft Teams link for the meeting will only be sent to the e-mail addresses so registered. Tenderers who fail to register for and attend the compulsory clarification meeting will be declared non-responsive. Tenderers should note that the Project is currently at Project Assessment stage. Three (3) main alignment options remain under consideration, and no route has yet been selected; the appointed environmental practitioner will be required to fast-track a comparative environmental screening of these options (and their associated southern tie-in variants) within one (1) month of the EAP Contract Commencement Date, to inform SANRAL's route selection. Tenderers should further note that a full Socio-Economic Study and Noise Pollution Study will likely be required, and that possible graves and archaeological finds have been identified as a project risk along the greenfields alignment, consistent with findings on adjacent N2 dualling projects currently in construction.
