INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT

Experts On The Go (Pty) Ltd were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the Consulting Engineering Services For The Operations And Management Of Road Incident Management Systems And Road Safety Audits In The North West Province. The project falls within the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality.

The scope of this project is to conduct a Road Safety Investigation (RSINV) of the R505 Section 5 from km 24.00 to km 27.00 and the R503 Section 2 from km 18.60 to km 21.90, both located on the outskirts of Lichtenburg town within the Ditsobotla Local Municipality. The two sections have been combined into a single investigation on account of the similarity of road safety issues identified along both corridors, namely pedestrian safety, access management and key intersection performance. Along the R505 Section 5, a recently established informal settlement has created significant pedestrian safety challenges, as residents are required to cross the carriageway to access a clinic at km 25.10 and a school at km 25.30. Pedestrian activity is further elevated over weekends due to sporting and soccer activities in the area. Ongoing signage theft and vandalism along both sections undermines the effectiveness of traffic control measures. Along the R503 Section 2, the segment between km 21.20 and km 21.90 experiences vehicle-pedestrian conflicts associated with pedestrian movements to and from a nearby mall and businesses along the route. At km 20.60, high volumes of heavy vehicle traffic have resulted in truck queuing and turning conflicts, with road traffic crashes recorded at this location. A level crossing located at km 21.80 on the R503 Section 2 has also been identified as a potential hazardous location requiring investigation. Key intersections within the project are to be assessed for operational performance, safety, capacity, and possible future upgrades.

Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Investigation. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site.

Tenderers must submit, via email, the duly completed Form A1.1: Certificate of Intention to Submit a Tender within seven (7) days from the tender advertisement date.  Failure to submit this certificate would result in the tenderer not receiving addenda or additional issued information and may result in the tenderer being non-responsive.

The closing time and date for submission of quotations is 11h00 on 21 August 2026.
