CONTRACT SANRAL R.573-010-2024/2RSA FOR THE UPGRADING OF NATIONAL ROAD R573 SECTION 1 FROM KM 31.00 TO DE WAGENDRIFT NORTH (KM 37.80)
T 1.1 INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT
CLOSING DATE (AT 11:00): Friday, 4 April 2025
KBK Engineers (Pty) Ltd were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the provision of consulting engineering services for the Upgrading of Road R573 Section 1 from Stormvoël Road in Tshwane (km 0.00) to the Gauteng/ Mpumalanga Provincial Border (±km 48.60) The project falls within the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng Province.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd identified the need for the capacity upgrading of the R573-1 Moloto Road from the Gauteng section in the south, through the Mpumalanga section, to the Limpopo section in the north. The need for the project arose from increased road accidents, to delays at major intersections and declining levels of service (LOS) along the route. One of the catalytic elements for the prioritisation of the upgrading of the R573-1 Moloto Road was the re-occurrence of road safety incidents on the road.
A Road Safety Audit is therefore required to identify aspects for the improvement of the road safety regime, where relevant, from preliminary design stage through to and including detail design stage.
Only Consulting Engineering Firms with a B-BBEE contributor status level of 1 or 2, are eligible to submit quotations.
Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Audit. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site.
