INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT CLOSING DATE (AT 11:00): 21 AUGUST 2026 Experts On The Go (Pty) Ltd were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the Consulting Engineering Services For The Operations And Management Of Road Incident Management Systems And Road Safety Audits In The North West Province. The project falls within the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality. The scope of this package is to conduct a Road Safety Investigation (RSINV) of the N18 Section 2 from km 5.00 to km 27.50, focusing on pedestrian safety, access management, and the operational assessment of a key intersection within the study extent. The N18 Section 2 is a single carriageway road comprising two lanes of 3.7 m width with an unsurfaced shoulder, forming part of the North West Province's key highway network. The road can be divided into a southern rural section through agricultural farmland with an operating speed of 120 km/h, and a northern urban section through the town of Taung with an operating speed of 60 km/h. Within the Taung urban section, access management problems attributed to businesses with direct access to the national road have been identified, with pedestrians and stray animals also noted as contributing safety concerns. Two intersections at km 26.00 and km 27.10 in Pudimoe have been flagged as hazardous locations by the RRM and stakeholders, having recorded incidents in the past. A key intersection within the study section requires an operational assessment to evaluate its performance, safety, and capacity. Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Investigation. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site.
