INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT CLOSING DATE (AT 11:00): 21 AUGUST 2026 Experts On The Go (Pty) Ltd were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the Consulting Engineering Services For The Operations And Management Of Road Incident Management Systems And Road Safety Audits In The North West Province. The project falls within the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality. The scope of this package is to conduct a Road Safety Investigation (RSINV) of the R49 Section 2 from km 0.00 to km 29.00, focusing on two specific safety concerns: stray animal incursions and the hazardous mountain pass at km 5.20. The road traverses a predominantly agricultural and mining landscape serving as a key corridor linking the interior of the North West Province to the Botswana–South Africa border. The section between km 16.00 and km 24.00 is significantly affected by livestock and stray animal incursions onto the carriageway, posing a persistent collision risk to road users, particularly during low-light conditions. At km 5.20, a steep mountain pass presents a significant hazard for heavy vehicles, where truck overspeeding on the descent has been recorded and a fatal accident involving a heavy vehicle with brake failure has occurred. Stakeholders have requested the provision of a runaway vehicle arrestor bed at this location, and an in-depth investigation is required to determine the most appropriate mitigation measures. Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Investigation. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site. QUOTATION DOCUMENTS Quotation documents are available at no cost in electronic format downloaded from the SANRAL’s website by the following link https://www.nra.co.za/sanral-tenders/list/open-tenders/.Tenderers must have access to Microsoft © Office 2013 and Acrobat Adobe © 9.0 or similar compatible software.
