INVITATION FOR QUOTATION TO UNDERTAKE AN INDEPENDENT ROAD SAFETY AUDIT CLOSING DATE (AT 11:00): 23 JANUARY 2026 SMEC SOUTH AFRICA (PTY) LTD were appointed by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) for the provision of CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE UPGRADE ON NATIONAL ROAD R521 SECTION 1 FROM POLOKWANE (KM 0) TO STRYDOMSLOOP (KM 29.9) The first four kilometres project falls within the Polokwane Local Municipality’s jurisdiction and thus excluded from the scope of this project. The National Road Reserve declaration starts at km 4.0. The Upgrade of National Road R521 Section 1 starts in the Polokwane CBD at the Hospital Street intersection with R101 and continues north towards Dendron for 29.9 km. The road passes through the industrial and commercial areas to the north of Polokwane, through 16 km of rural farmland and 10 km of rural villages. For all practical purposes, the urban section of the route is ending at km 5.0. A Road Safety Audit is therefore required to support the preliminary and detailed design of National Road R521 Section 1 from km 4.0 to km 29.9. Firms with road safety and traffic engineering experience are therefore invited to submit a quote to undertake an independent Road Safety Audit. A clarification meeting will not be held, but it is essential that prospective tenderers familiarise themselves with the site. QUOTATION DOCUMENTS Quotation documents are available at no cost in electronic format downloaded from the SANRAL’s website by the following link https://www.nra.co,za/service-provider-zone/tenders/open-tenders/.Tenderers must have access to Microsoft © Office 2013 and Acrobat Adobe © 9.0 or similar compatible software. Tenderers must submit, via email, the duly completed Form A1.1: Certificate of Intention to Submit a Tender within seven (7) days from the tender advertisement date. Failure to submit this certificate would result in the tenderer not receiving addenda or additional issued information and may result in the tenderer being non-responsive, if “any material amendment/s” contained in the addenda or additional information is not included in the tender offer/submission. COMPLETION AND DELIVERY OF QUOTATIONS The closing time and date for submission of quotations is 11h00 on 23 January 2026. Only quotation offers submitted electronically on CD / flash drive and delivered to the address specified in the Tender Data will be accepted. Telegraphic, telephonic, telex, e-mail, facsimile and late tenders will not be accepted. Quotations may only be submitted in the format as stated in the Quotation Data.
