SANRAL invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the position of Social Facilitator for the Emergency Repair Projects in Mpumalanga Province.

EMERGENCY REPAIR OF VARIOUS SLIP AND EMBANKMENT FAILURES ON NATIONAL ROADS R37 AND R40 IN THE MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

PROJECT LOCATIONS

Social Facilitation services will be required separately for each applicable project/site. Each project will require the appointment of a Social Facilitation service provider to provide services within the relevant project area:

The projects fall within the Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel between the project sites and support multiple sites concurrently, where required.

PROJECT DURATION

R40 – Bulembu Border Post to Mbombela: 10 Months

R37 – Mbombela Slip Areas: 6 Months

R40 – Mbombela towards Acornhoek: 10 Months

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Facilitate communication and engagement between the project team and affected communities.

·         Identify and engage relevant stakeholders, including local communities, municipalities, traditional leadership structures and other interested and affected parties.

·         Monitor community dynamics and identify potential social and community-related risks.

·         Assist in managing community expectations relating to employment, Targeted Enterprises and project participation.

·         Facilitate and attend Project Liaison Committee (PLC), community and stakeholder meetings, where required.

·         Prepare meeting agendas, minutes and attendance registers.

·         Maintain a stakeholder register and community/social risk register.

·         Assist with the management and resolution of community grievances and disputes.

·         Attend relevant project and monthly site meetings.

·         Prepare and submit monthly Social Facilitation Progress Reports.

·         Report on significant community-related incidents, risks or disruptions.

·         Assist the project team with labour and community participation matters.

·         Prepare a final Social Facilitation Completion Report at project completion.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

·         Appropriate qualification in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Relations or another relevant field.

·         Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in social facilitation, community development, stakeholder engagement or community liaison.

·         Experience in civil engineering, road construction, infrastructure or similar projects will be advantageous.

·         Strong communication, stakeholder management and conflict-resolution skills.

·         Good understanding of community engagement processes.

·         Ability to work independently and under pressure.

·         Valid South African Identity Document.

·         Valid driver's licence.

·         Access to reliable transport.

·         Ability and willingness to travel between the applicable WP40 project sites.

·         Knowledge and understanding of the local communities and stakeholder environment within Nkomazi, Mbombela and Bushbuckridge will be advantageous.
